05 Feb 2015 : Seán Brosnan
'The Hallow' is co-produced by Fantastic Films and part funded by the IFB
IFC Midnight has announced that it has acquired the U.S. rights to Corin Hardy’s Irish co-production ‘The Hallow’ at the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival.

Co-produced by Fantastic Films with funding from the Irish Film Board, the film tells the story of a London-based conservationist who is sent to Ireland to survey an area of ancient forest believed by the superstitious locals to be hallowed ground and unwittingly disturbs a horde of terrifying beings and must fight to protect his family.

Windmill Lane Pictures Post Production were responsible for the picture edit, while Ardmore Sound were across the sound post-production.

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions and Productions for IFC Midnight, with WME Global and ICM Partners on behalf of the filmmakers.

‘The Hallow’ was produced by Occupant Entertainment and Fantastic Films. It was funded by Prescience, Altus Media, Hyperion and the Irish Film Board and received its’ world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this month.

Producer John McDonnell of Fantastic Films, said: ‘Fantastic Films are delighted to have collaborated with Occupant Entertainment on incredibly talented Corin Hardy's first movie ‘The Hallow’. The film has received rave reviews at its Sundance Premiere and is selling extremely well, the hard work done by the crew and Windmill Lane supported by the Irish Film Board and Section 481 has made the journey really successful.’

‘The Hallow’ perfectly complements our other upcoming genre releases - Brian O Malley's ‘Let Us Prey’ and David Keating's ‘Cherry Tree’ also due out in 2015.’

‘The Hallow’ stars Joseph Mawle (‘Ripper Street’), Bojana Novakovic (‘Edge of Darkness’), Michael McElhatton (‘Game of Thrones’) and Michael Smiley (‘The World’s End’).
