New Tile Films Documentary ‘An Long Chaillte’ to air on TG4
23 Jan 2015 : Seán Brosnan
Science/History docu-drama which delves into mystery of the 'Lost Ship' found off the coast of Donegal in 2010
A new Tile Films documentary ‘An Long Chaillte’ – which uncovers the mystery of a 400-year-old shipwreck – will air on TG4 on Wednesday, 28th January at 9.30pm.

‘An Long Chaillte’ is narrated by Irish actor Lochlann Ó Mearáin (‘Ros na Rún’, ‘The Tudors’) and produced by Tile Films, the company behind acclaimed TG4 documentaries and series such as the 1916 Rising docudrama ‘Áille an Uafáis’ and two series of ‘Cé a Chónaigh i mo Theachsa?’. ‘An Long Chaillte’ was written and directed by Keith Farrell (‘Áille an Uafáis’, ‘Ireland’s Nazis’), produced by Dave Farrell (‘Áille an Uafáis’, ‘Death on the Railroad’) and executive produced by Stephen Rooke.

Research on the project was completed by Dave Farrell and Keith Farrell. Laura Danaher was the Production Manager and the DOP was Christian O’Brien while the editor was Keith Walsh

In this science/history docudrama, a film crew follows the team over a three-year period as they seek to uncover the mystery of the Lost Ship, offering a unique view into the world of modern shipwreck exploration. The ship in question was found off the coast of Donegal in 2010 and sparked intense media interest with the unfolding story set against a great historical epic - the war between the two great rivals of the 16th century, the Protestant England of Elizabeth I and the Catholic Spain of Philip II.

Speaking of the project, Keith Farrell said: ‘As a director it is rare that you get to follow a project for so long. Each year the team discovered something new which changed the way we looked at the story and it was great to be on that journey with them.” Executive producer Stephen Rooke (Saving the Titanic, Fág an Bealach) said of the project, “It’s fascinating that there are still shipwrecks to be excavated and explored. Being able to join the team on an archeological dig for three years was a great opportunity and a privilage for Tile Films.’

‘An Long Chaillte’ will air on TG4 on Wednesday, 28th January at 9.30pm.
