‘A Thousand Times Good Night’ Sells to France, Belgium and other territories
29 Oct 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
Global Screen has sold drama ‘A Thousand Times Good Night’, which stars Juliette Binoche, ‘Game of Thrones’ star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and ‘Amber’’s Lauryn Canny, to Septieme Factory Distribution for France and Belgium.

The film is directed by Eric Poppe and follows a war photographer who struggles with balancing her job and family life. The film also features Maria Doyle Kennedy and Larry Mullen Jr., best-known as the drummer for U2.

Filmed on location for seven weeks in Dublin, Morocco and Kabul, ‘A ThousandTimes Good Night’ was co-produced by Jackie Larkin and Lesley McKimm in Newgrange Pictures as well as Norwegian-based Finn Gjerdrum and Stein Kave for Paradox. It was released in Irish cinemas last March.

The feature has won a number of awards in Montreal, Chicago and Norway. In recent weeks, all-right deals signed for the film have included Greece (Danaos Cinema), Brazil (Mares Filmes), Central America (Wiesner), Argentina (CDI Films) and Lithuania (Scanorama).

The film was also sold to the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, UK, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Denmark, Finland, Turkey, ex-Yougoslavia, Bulgaria, Latin America, Israel, Middle East, Indonesia and other territories.

Julia Weber, head of theatrical sales at Global Screen, said: “Our distributors keep telling me their audience for international drama is mainly female, educated and urban. ‘A Thousand Times’ is the perfect film for exactly this target group, as it tackles one of this audience’s greatest challenges with great delicacy: how to be successful in a demanding job and enjoy a fulfilling family life at the same time.”
