Nine projects now shortlisted for the next stage of Film Limerick

Limerick City of Culture in partnership with Behind the Scenes has announced the shortlist for Film Limerick. This scheme is the first of its kind and has attracted a total of 131 applications of which nine have been shortlisted.

Of the nine shortlisted, two projects will receive funding of €15,000 towards the production of their short film, the only stipulation being that filming must take place in Limerick. Each production will also receive advice and support for making the films. Interviews will be held in Limerick during the coming weeks to decide on the successful applicants and the winners will be announced at the end of the month.

Limerick City of Culture project manager for Film Limerick, Ronan Cassidy, said: Film Limerick has been a massive success. For a first time scheme, we have received applications from all over the country. The quality of work received was highly competitive and the wealth of talent among established and emerging filmmakers in Ireland shows the necessity of having schemes such as this in place. I would like to thank all who submitted scripts and wish them the best of luck in the future. I’m looking forward to meeting the shortlisted applicants and working with the successful teams.
