Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (‘Babel’, ‘21 Grams’) is directing the film and writing the script alongside Mark L. Smith (‘Vacancy’). Based on the Michael Punke novel, ‘The Revenant’ centres on a 1820s frontiersman on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling. The feature is scheduled to shoot in autumn.
Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, Keith Redmon and David Kanter will produce along with Inarritu, Arnon Milchan and James Skotchdopole. New Regency is co-financing the film with RatPac. Paul Green, Brett Ratner and James Packer are exec producing.
Domhnall Gleeson’s acting career continues to rise after starring in a number of critically-acclaimed Irish features including ‘Sensation’, ‘Calvary’, in which he starred opposite father Brendan Gleeson, ‘Frank’ with Michael Fassbender, and ‘Brooklyn’ with Saoirse Ronan, which is currently in post-production.
After playing Bill Weasley in the “Harry Potter” franchise, Gleeson became recognised for his talent on a more global scale and was cast in major roles in Joe Wright’s ‘Anna Karenina’, for which he won an IFTA, and Richard Curtis’s ‘About Time’. Gleeson’s biggest break to date was landing a key role in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ which is currently filming and recently wrapped shooting scenes in Skellig Michael, Kerry.
