‘Terminator’ Creator Recruited for ‘Avatar 2’ James Cameron recruited Josh Friedman, the creator of Fox’s hit series ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ to work on the screenplay for the upcoming ‘Avatar 2’. Friedman has a long-standing relationship with Fox, also having written ‘Locke & Key’. His other screenwriting credits include Spielberg’s remake of ‘War of the Worlds’, Brian De Palma’s ‘The Black Dahlia’ and Keanu Reeves’ ‘Chain Reaction’. ‘Avatar’ amassed nearly $2.8 billion worldwide, making the film the highest-grossing of all time. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are expected to return for the ‘Avatar’ sequel, which hits theaters in 2015.
‘Pacific Rim’ Booms in Chinese Box Office The opening day for ‘Pacific Rim’ scored the second biggest debut of a Hollywood release in China for this year - scoring $9 million. The film’s international box office compensates for the disappointing run in North America. ‘Pacific Rim’ stands at $37 million domestically but $224 million internationally. With such great success, ‘Pacific Rim 2’ seems likely. The sci-fi epic was directed by Guillermo del Toro and produced by Warner Bros. Studio executives have yet to confirm sequel speculation.
‘Lone Survivor’ Trailer Released Directed by Peter Berg, ‘Lone Survivor’ tells the true-life tale of a Navy SEAL mission gone wrong. The film follows four members of SEAL Team 10 as they carry out Operation Red Wings - the hunt for Taliban leader Ahmad Shah along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg), Mike Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch) and Matt Axelson (Ben Foster) find their mission compromised as a heavily armed forced meets them at the border. ‘Lone Survivor’ hits theaters on 21 Feb.
