Ruth Bradley - who won the IFTA for Best Actress this year for ‘Grabbers’ and played Mary in ‘Love/Hate’ - has won the starring role in ‘Horizon’, a new US sci-fi pilot from the executive producer of ‘The Walking Dead’.
Ms Bradley will play young FBI secretary Lauren Howl who, during World War II, discovers that her husband might have been killed in a battle with a spaceship in the South Pacific.
As she fights to uncover the truth, she becomes the only person who can save the Earth from an alien invasion.
The new drama from ‘Walking Dead’ producer Gale Anne Hurd will co-star ‘Boardwalk Empire’ actress Meg Steedle as Lauren's best friend in the FBI with a talent for uncovering secrets in Washington.
Ruth Bradley has also signed on to star in Disney’s 'Big Thunder', based on the Disneyland train ride Thunder Mountain – following in the footsteps of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, which was itself originally a Disneyland ride.
The Dublin actress will next be seen in ‘The Sea’, starring Ciaran Hinds, based on John Banville’s Booker prize-winning novel, and counts among her recent credits ‘In Her Skin’ with Guy Pearce and Sam Neill; the TV series ‘Threesome’; the 'Titanic' mini-series; and ITV’s ‘Primeval’.
Ms Bradley also won the IFTA for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Television for ‘Stardust’ in 2007, and was nominated for three further IFTA awards for ‘Love/Hate’ in 2011; ‘Rásaí na Gaillimhe’ in 2009; and ‘Legend’ in 2006.
