October Eleven Hunting Ghosts in New 'Cathnafola' Documentary
07 Sep 2011 :
Cathnafola House
October Eleven are currently in the final phase of principle photography with a new feature documentary entitled ‘Cathnafola’. Directed by Jason Figgis, ‘Cathnafola’ explores the haunted Cathnafola House.

‘Cathnafola’ is produced and written by Chris Halton of Internet based Haunted Earth TV. Associate producer on the feature documentary is Jason Shalloe.

Cathnafola House was built by Hubert Vazey-Asquith for his pregnant wife, on an ancient Irish Chieftan battle site in 1855. The house became the site for several mysterious deaths and suicides, and today stands as a dilapidated ruin, which is apparently haunted by the ghosts of several former tragic residents.

The idea for the documentary emerged when paranormal investigator Chris Halton was approached with a piece of film that purported to show three teenagers investigating the notoriously haunted ruins of Cathnafola House.

The first phase of filming took place in March, with unexpected and eerie results. The film is currently in the final phase of principal photography and was shot on High-Definition and Infrared Analogue cameras. The documentary was privately financed and it will be completed in November 2011.

In other news, October Eleven Pictures have also completed principle photography on two feature films this summer: ‘Railway Children’ and ‘A Burial at Thorn Hill’. Directed by Jason Figgis, ‘Railway Children’ was shot on location in Goatstown, Dublin during July and August. Producers on ‘Railway Children’ are Carl Shaaban and Jason Shalloe. While the main body of the film has gone into post at October Eleven Creatives, filming is taking place for flash back sequences with newly confirmed cast members Rory Mullen (Hunger, Portrait of a Zombie) and Joe McKinney (Anton). ‘Railway Children’ is expected to be completed in March 2012.

Filming for ‘A Burial on Thorn Hill’ (previously entitled ‘Box’) took place in Kildare and Dublin loacations throughout June and July. Directed and produced by Jason Figgis, the film examines the relationship between a couple who are trying to come to terms with the murder of their daughter. Cast on the feature include Bryan Murray (Holby City, Brookside), Cora Fenton (Mary Motorhead, Strength and Honour) and Bill Fellows (United, Downton Abbey). The psychological drama was written by Bernadette Manton (Blood), with Jason Shalloe co-producing and Jonathan Figgis (The Guards) co-producing.

‘A Burial at Thorn Hill’ is currently in post at October Eleven Creative post facility and will be scored by composer Michael Richard Ploughman (Recreating Eden, Age of Heroes). It is expected to be completed in early 2012.

In the meantime, October Eleven Pictures’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, which has recently been completed, will be screened at several charity premiers across Ireland (locations TBC) this December in aid of Barretstown Children’s Camp.
