Fastnet Films’ new four part series, ‘Gualainn le Gualann’ (Shoulder to Shoulder) is currently in post production. The company’s previous project ‘In Sunshine or in Shadow’ will broadcast on June 8th.
The editing of ‘Gualainn le Gualann’ is currently being presided over by Eoin McDonagh (Troid Fhuilteach) in Fastmet Films. The four part series looks at the history of Irish Rugby and is directed by Andrew Gallimore and produced by Morgan Bushe (The Other Side of Sleep) and Conor Barry (Mr Crocodile in the Cupboard). The director of photography is Stephen J Hart who shot in various locations across the country. The project was chosen to be funded €210,000 by the BCI Sound and Vision fund in October 2009 and will be broadcast this autumn on TG4.
The Fastnet production team will also see the premiere of their documentary ‘In Sunshine or in Shadow’ which premieres on Setanta Sports Ireland on Tuesday, June 8th at 10pm. The hour long doc looks to reveal the dramatic historical connotations and true story behind the epic world featherweight title fight that took place between Barry McGuigan and Eusebio Pedroza, a now legendary encounter that gripped an entire Irish nation on a hot summer’s night in 1985.
Released to coincide with the event’s 25th anniversary, the project was made through the support of the BAI Sound and Vision Broadcasting Funding Scheme with the remaining finance from Setanta Sports Ireland. Written and directed by the 2009 IFTA award winner Andrew Gallimore (Troid Fhuilteach) and produced by Morgan Bushe, the film was shot over an eight month period on location in Panama City, New York, Belfast, Edinburgh, London, Dublin and Clones. The film was co-produced by Conor Barry and Bienvenido Brown; director of photography on the project was Stephen J. Hart and the editor Eoin McDonagh.
‘In Sunshine or in Shadow’ premieres on Setanta Sports Ireland on Tuesday, June 8th at 10pm.
