The feature film adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' is currently in production - shooting on locaitons in Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare from January to April. Jason Figgis (The Twilight Hour: Visions of Ireland's Haunted Past) will direct and produce the project and he will also be cinematographer and editor of the film.
Jason Figgis is the producer of five other projects including 'Blood' which tells the story of brother and sister - Guy and Carrie. In the film Carrie (Gail Brady) has recently passed away. Following an inquest open verdict Guy (Emmett John Scanlan) awaits the arrival of his best friend Jonathan (Steve Gunn) who’s returning from several years abroad. Before Guy can confess a terrible secret to his father (Oliver McQuillan), he must first make the same admissions to Jonathan and in doing so hopefully gain a supportive and understanding ally.
‘Blood’ is best described by Jason who tells IFTA that “this feature is a return to the 'kitchen-sink'types of drama that filled the screens of British Cinema in the 1960's.” The film was shot in Dublin and Tullamore, Co. Offaly and is written and directed by Bernadette Manton and shot by Jason Figgis who will also edit the feature.
Other projects in the works at October Eleven include violent road movie 'Handheld', which is currently in post and stars Maria Manton and Steve Gunn and currentl; psychological horror thriller 'Box' which is set for principal photography in April; and the company’s long time pet project ‘3 Crosses’ which is nearing completion.
