Aidan, who has been living in Sydney since February of this year, accepted the award on Friday, October 16th, along with his team of Sydney filmmakers Simon Koloadin and Rhiannon Sawyer.
The trio’s film, entitled ‘Living With EES’ is a mockumentary following a young couple who elected to get ‘electrical extension surgery’ which puts an electrical cord into their bodies, meaning they no longer need to eat and drink - simply charge up.
Aidan will now represent Sydney and take the film to Filmapalooza in Las Vegas next April. Here it will compete with other Best Film winners from cities all over the world.
The up and coming filmmaker, who up until last year was working as an engineer, is delighted with his win telling IFTN: “I’m still a bit in shock but am absolutely delighted with the result. We had a lot of fun making the film and we’re so excited to be representing Sydney in Las Vegas next year.”
The film was nominated in five categories including Best Script and Best Director and also won Best Actress for Libby Ahearn. This is Aidan’s third short film and the team’s first.
