The remainder of the LAIFF's screenings and events which are co-presented by the American Cinematheque will take place at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica.
Other confirmed titles to be screened during the Festival (23rd – 27th September) include:
Pat Collins’ feature documentary ‘Gabriel Byrne - Stories from Home’. A revealing and evocative insight into the life and creative impulses of Gabriel Byrne, this intimate portrayal, emanating from the man himself gives the viewer a rare insight into Byrne's private and public world. The documentary is produced by Tina Moran and Philip King.
‘Peacefire’, the first feature from writer/director Macdara Vallely. Starring John Travers, the film was shot entirely on location in Craigavon, Co. Armagh in the summer of 2007. Originally a play written, directed and performed by Vallely, the film is produced by Chris Martin, Sarah Perry, and features John Travers, Gerard Jordan and Gerry Doherty.
'Cherrybomb’, Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn’s first feature, in which teenagers Luke, Malachy, and Michelle embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shoplifting and stealing cars. What starts as a game turns deadly serious when they discover the wild ride they’ve set in motion won’t let them get off.
‘Identities’, Vittoria Colonna’s feature documentary, which charters the multicoloured, multicultural transgender community in Ireland, gives life to five stories in the different but parallel worlds of transvestism, transsexualism, drag, sexual identity, and gender dysphoria.
‘Kisses’, Lance Daly’s film (for which he won IFTA Best Director), which tells the tale of two kids, Kylie and Dylan, who live in a suburban housing estate devoid of life, colour and relish the prospect of escape.
‘Waveriders’ Joel Conroy’s surfing doc which won the inaugural George Morrison Feature Documentary IFTA earlier in 2009..
‘The Secret of Kells’, Tomm Moore/Cartoon Saloon’s multi-award winning animated feature.
As a tribute to the late Hugh Leonard, ‘Da’, directed by Matt Clarke, will also be screened at the festival and (schedule permitting) a discussion with actor Martin Sheen will follow.
