'Sensation', written and directed by Tom Hall, is in it's second week of principal photography in Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow. The Tony award nominee Domhnall Gleeson stars as a horny young farmer in Tom Hall’s second feature.
Filming is underway in the Wicklow area until the last week in June. Hall’s debut feature ‘Wide Open Spaces’ premieres at the Edinburgh Film Festival later this month.
'Sensation' also stars New Zealand actress Luanne Gordon (King Kong) who plays escort Kim and Patrick Ryan (Whistleblower) as the jealous friend Karl. Owen Roe (Intermission, Wide Open Spaces), Eleanor Methvyn (Becoming Jane) and Kelly Campbell (One Hundred Mornings) also star.
‘Sensation’ is a darkly comic love story that starts out as a story of lust. It details the relationship between Donal and an aging Antipodean escort, Kim. They begin as client and call-girl, evolve into lovers and finally business partners. What starts as a soulless contract develops into a bittersweet love story.
The film is an Irish-Dutch co-production with finance from the Irish Film Board, the Rotterdam Film Fund, Screen Scene and Section 481.
The DOP is Benito Strangio (Hoover Street Revival, Crush Proof) from Rotterdam. The designer is Tamara Conboy (Once) and the film will be cut by Nathan Nugent in Screen Scene in Dublin. Post production will take place between Screen Scene and Editson in Rotterdam.
‘Sensation’ is Blinder Films' second feature this year following ‘One Hundred Mornings’ and is being produced by Katie Holly and Kieron J. Walsh (Raw, When Brendan Met Trudy).
