Neasa Ní Chianáin's award-winning documentary ‘Fairytale of Kathmandu’ has been picked up for distribution by UK-based Journeyman Pictures, who will represent the film in all territories except Ireland and Nepal, and North America, where they are already represented by Cinema Guild, New York.
The distribution deal with Journeyman means that the film will be offered to international broadcasters outside of North America for terrestrial television, cable and satellite sales. Journeyman also hosts their own Pay-per-view channel and will make the film available there as well. The film, produced by Vinegar Hill productions and co-funded by RTÉ, documents the activities in Nepal of Irish language poet Cathal O’Searcaigh.
The distributor will be representing the film at the MIPDOC and MIPTV markets in Cannes and will also be seeking international sales interest when ‘Fairytale’ has it's UK screenings at the 23rd London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, hosted by the British Film Institute on London's South Bank next Monday and Tuesday (April 6th and 7th).
The LLGFF at The National Film Theatre in London is ‘Fairytale of Kathmandu's’ 25th international festival outing, and its eight gay and lesbian festival screening.
