ILBF Announces 2008 Funding Decisions
03 Jul 2008 :
Lifeboat Luke - more funding
Animations and documentaries from companies including LTL Productions, Stirling TV, DoubleBand Films and Lugh Film have all received a cash injection from Irish Language Broadcast Fund in its latest funding round.

The ILBF has awarded funding to Tobar Productions and Independent Pictures ‘Taisce Tuaithe’, to be broadcast on TG4 and BBC NI. This six part factual documentary series takes the viewer on a journey around Ulster and the border counties to meet some local characters and explore its rural heritage.

Lugh Film and Cam Media have received funding to produce a single documentary ‘Cruit go nÓr, Seanghlór ag ceol athuair’, to be broadcast on BBC NI and TG4. The programme will see a group of musicians explore their musical tradition and heritage as they attempt to build a replica of the Downhill Harp.

DoubleBand Films have received funding for four part series ‘Scéal na Teorann’, to be broadcast on BBC NI and TG4. The series explores the history of the border and the story of how it came about.

Belfast based production house Below the Radar picked up funding for doco series ‘Dead on Arrival’, set to air on TG4, which looks at the health care provision in Ireland while Stirling TV has received ILBF funding for factual / music series ‘Finsceal Baileadai na hEireann’ for TG4.

A series of re-versioned animations were also funded in this round. LTL Productions ‘Lifeboat Luke’, comedy action series to air on RTÉ and Zoogon Ltd’s ‘Tadhaigín an tEitleán’ have been awarded funding. The TG4 cartoon follows the adventures of Tadhaigín and his friends.

The ILBF, which consists of £3m per annum with funding provided by DCAL, funds at least 75 hours of Irish language output every year, broadcast on TG4, BBC NI and RTÉ.
