Real Hollywood Launches Slate With ‘Yankee King’
22 May 2008 :
Bill Campbell
New Belfast production company Real Hollywood has announced its first project, ‘Yankee King’, will begin shooting in Belfast next month. Directed by Gerry Lively (Dungeons & Dragons II), the film will star Bill Campbell (The Rocketeer, Enough), Claire Forlani (Flashbacks of a Fool), Kelly Brook (Survival Island, The Italian Job) and Rosemary Harris (Spiderman).

Real Hollywood was established in December 2007 by commercial property developer Robert Whitton with English actor/director Richard Attenborough and NI-based producer Jo Gilbert. With a remit to focus on Northern Ireland-based productions, ‘Yankee King’ is the first of a number of projects in the works at the production outfit.

Other upcoming projects include; ‘That Good Night’, a feature film adaptation of the stage play with Brit actor Simon Callow (Shakespeare in Love) making his directorial debut - Joanna Lumley is attached to star with other cast tbc; ‘Hot Nights’, written by IFTA winning screenwriter and acclaimed author Pat McCabe, with Stephen Rea attached to star and actor turned director Tom Maguire at the helm; ‘The Chaps’ written by BJ Hogg and Hal Fowler - with Hogg directing; and the company is developing a screenplay ‘Poles Apart’ with Irish playwrights Alan McKee and Conor Grimes.

‘Closing the Ring’, Gilbert’s most recent project was directed by Richard Attenborough and filmed in Northern Ireland. Released across the globe late last year, the feature was nominated for a Best Film IFTA in 2008. <#bannerdisplay#>
