Farrell, Vega & Lee For Tanovic's 'Triage'
09 Apr 2008 :
Paz Vega alongside Farrell
Irish actor Colin Farrell (In Bruges, Intermission), Spanish actress Paz Vega (Spanglish, Sex & Lucia) and screen legend Christopher Lee (The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars) will star in ‘Triage’, the latest pic from Oscar winning filmmaker Danis Tanovic (No Man's Land, 11 September). Starting next week, the film will shoot for five weeks in Spain, followed by a three week shoot in Dublin.

Farrell, who is also executive producer on the project, will star as Mark, a photojournalist returning home from a dangerous assignment. When his colleague and best friend fails to return home, Mark’s girlfriend, Elena (Vega), must find the clues to the mystery that’s slowly killing her boyfriend.

Writer/director Tanovic adapted the screenplay from Scott Anderson's novel. The Irish/French/Spanish co-production is produced by Parallel Films' Alan Moloney (Breakfast on Pluto, Intermission) alongside Cédomir Kolar (Before the Rain) of ASAP Films in coproduction with Tim Baish, Free Form, and Mariela Besuievsky of Tournasol Films (Oxford Crimes). Kolar was a producer on Danis Tanovic's feature 'No Man's Land' which won the Best Screenplay Award at Cannes 2001 and the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2002 among others.

Irish producer Alan Moloney commented: “Danis has written a powerful and moving script with a universal appeal. The prospect of himself and Colin Farrell working together alongside the beauty and talent of Paz Vega and an icon of cinema like Christopher Lee is very exciting for us all.”

Production commences next week at the Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante, Spain. IFTA winning director of photography Seamus Deasy (The Tiger’s Tail, The General) will shoot on 35mm, with Irish production designer Derek Wallace (Tara Road, The Tailor of Panama) also among the crew.

Hanway Films have world sales rights with the participation of CAA in North America and will start selling the film at the Cannes Film Festival. Rai Cinema and Canal Plus, have already boarded the film for Italy and France. 'Triage' is supported by the Irish Film Board and Eurimages.
