Oscar winning musicians Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova have lent their vocal talents to the low budget Israeli feature ‘Srangers’ recording a song, ‘One More Word’, for the movie’s soundtrack.
Written by Israeli musician Eyal Leon Katzav, ‘One More Word’ was recorded in early February 2008, two weeks before the duo won the Oscar for ‘Once’.
The low budget feature ‘Strangers’ is written and directed by Guy Nattiv and Erez Tadmor. Described as a “globe-trotting Israeli Romeo meets Palestinian Juliet”, the protagonists begin their passionate affair during the 2006 soccer World Cup, but passion turns to hostility as the second Lebanon war breaks out in that same summer.
The film screened at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is set to screen in Tribeca next month. Czech director Jan Hrebejk, who used Hansard’s songs in his previous film, introduced the Frames frontman to Nattiv and Tadmor.
