Sky digital subscribers in Ireland have reached an all-time high of 500,000, according to Sky’s latest financial results report. Covering the year ending 30th June 2007, the report stated that subscribers to Sky Digital increased by 70,000 to 497,000 in the year, with this number since passing the half a million mark.
This significant customer growth represents the highest net increase in five years. The report showed that the total number of Sky’s direct-to-home digital satellite subscribers across the UK and Ireland reached 8.582 million, an increase of 406,000 customers. Sky+ customers grew by a record 821,000 to 2.374 million, making up 28% of the customer base. Sky HD customers reached 292,000 since its launch just over a year ago. Company profits were also affected by broadband roll-out.
