Ciarán Hope Leads Irish Score For ‘Screw Cupid’
12 Jul 2007 :
LA based composer Ciarán Hope lead a team of Irish musicians and artists to complete the musical score and mix for a new US feature ‘Screw Cupid’.

Hope, whose previous screen credits include work on Michael Mann’s ‘The Insider’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘It’s a Guy Thing’, enlisted Irish classical violinist Cora Venus Lunny (Nigel Kennedy, The Donal Lunny Band, Sinéad O Connor), Irish composer Tim Boland (Stomp the Yard) and Irish composer-guitarist Ed Dunne to contribute to the music of the quirky romantic film. In addition, the final Irish touch for the film was provided by a string quartet hurriedly formed by current and former members of the Irish National Concert Orchestra who recorded several quartet cues in Dublin.

‘Screw Cupid’ is directed by Sanjeev Sirpal and stars Mircea Monroe (Drive, The Ultimate Gift) and Chris Boyd (Fifty Pills, What We Do Is Secret). Described as a “razor sharp, hilarious, and sometimes all to real after-love story dealing with the different ways people navigate the fallout of love” the film is scheduled for its premiere screening in LA on 12 July.

Other international artists who worked on the score include Canadian percussionist and drummer Satnam Ramgotra, who works with the likes of Hans Zimmer and Aaron Zigman and tours with Beck, Sting and the Black Eyed Peas; TATU bassist Domen Vajevic and music editor Christine Luethje (Cabin Fever, The Clearing).

Prior to ‘Screw Cupid’, Ciarán Hope had just completed scoring a horror motion picture for Hollywood Producer Elliot Kastner (The Blob) through his all-in-one post production facility, Hollyridge Music, Inc. The Irish composer has also lined up work on an epic based on the life of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, being produced and DP'd by Academy Award Nominee Jack Green (Unforgiven), for late 2007.
