Sky has created its own in-house development and production team and is planning a “hugely ambitious” reality soap as its first production, reports Broadcast. The new team will be led by former Big Brother producer Gigi Eligoloff. Stuart Murphy, Sky’s director of entertainment channels, told Broadcast “although it’s early stages, this development reflects how we want to remain flexible enough to consider ambitious in-house productions that can sit alongside our continued investment in indies.”
ITV signs landmark deal with Sony… ITV has signed a deal for Sony to provide cameras for three of its main production facilities as part of a major refurbishment project taking the broadcaster into the digital age. The broadcaster will stock three of its main premises, Salford, Meridian and Leeds, with Sony’s HXC-100 cameras, in a deal that will mark the first time it has standardised its acquisition with one manufacturer. ITV’s Salford Studios is used for a range of in-house productions, including Brendan O’Carroll’s‘Mrs. Brown’s Celebrities’, the new BBC gameshow which was produced by ITV’s 12 Yard productions, while plans for the set of ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ to move to Salford are in place for 2013.
