Liev Schreiber in 'Last Days on Mars'
Ruairí Robinson’s debut feature film ‘Last Days on Mars’ has entered post-production at Dublin-based post house Screen Scene, producer John McDonnell has confirmed to IFTN.

The sci-fi adventure, starring Golden Globe-nominee Liev Schreiber (X Men Origins), wrapped filming in Jordan last month. It is a co-production between McDonnell’s Fantastic Films, based in Dublin, and Qwerty Films in London.

Screen Scene is looking after all VFX with supervisor Ed Bruce, producer Sarah Mooney, coordinators Nicholas Murphy and Amy James, and production assistant Kenneth Coyne, all driving a talented team of visual effects artists over the next few months with work already underway.

McDonnell and his Fantastic Films partner Brendan McCarthy produced with Michael Kuhn (Being John Malkovich) and Andrea Cornwell (The Scouting Book for Boys) of Qwerty.

The film sees a crew of Mars-based astronauts lose a member in the midst of one of the biggest discoveries of their exploring careers. Johnny Harris (Snow White & the Huntsman), Olivia Williams (The Ghost), Elias Koteas (Shutter Island), Goran Kostic (Taken) and Tom Cullen (Weekend) also star.

Oscar-nominated Robinson (Fifty Percent Grey) worked with visual effects supervisor Adam McInnes (World War Z) and production designer Jon Henson (The Awakening). Peter Lambert (Twilight: New Moon) is editor on the project, while Steven Lawrence (The Dark Knight) and Philip Elton (The Bourne Supremacy) were the art directors.

Screen Scene is also busy facilitating the edit of the fifth instalment of the ‘Die Hard’ franchise, ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’, which was directed by Dundalk-native John Moore. Screen Scene recently wrapped post on BBC period drama ‘Loving Miss Hatto’, which was shot in Ireland over four weeks.

‘Last Days on Mars’ is slated for a 2013 release.
