Award-winning Spanish director Ventura Pons (Caricies) and former Warner Brothers post-production senior vice president Bill Daly (The Dark Knight) are to appear at next month’s Galway Film Fleadh where they will each host Masterclass events
Pons is an internationally acclaimed director whose body of work includes ‘Amic/amat’ (1998), ‘Morir (o no)’ (1999), ‘Anita Takes a Chance’ (2000), ‘Food of Love’ (2001) and ‘1000 Fools’ (2011).
His Masterclass will take place on July 11 in the Radisson Hotel, Galway, and will be facilitated by Irish director and screenwriter Kieron J. Walsh (Jump).
The following Saturday will see Daly, who worked at Warner Brothers post-production for more than 25 years, take part in a Masterclass chaired by Jim Duggan, managing director of Dublin-based post house, Screen Scene.
Daly has overseen post-production on hundreds of huge worldwide releases including all of the ‘Harry Potter’ films, ‘The Matrix’ trilogy, ‘Batman Begins,’ ‘Superman Returns’ and ‘The Departed.’ He moved to Warner Post Production as its director in 1997; became its vice president in 2003 and senior vice president in 2006.
The Masterclass will cover a range of topics including the challenges facing post-production today and what 3D has done to change post-production.
Duggan recently facilitated a Masterclass with Oscar-winning editor Joel Cox (Unforgiven) at the John Ford Ireland Film Symposium.
