Each hour-long episode will be written by a different writer with the writing team’s collective CVs including drama and soaps such as ‘Fair City’, ‘The Bill’, ‘Eastenders’, ‘Pure Mule’ and ‘Ballykissangel’.
Producers are keeping tight-lipped as to the exact plot but have revealed that it will be set in a housing estate in Galway and will cover the lives of six families.
The drama – which had been first talked about by TV3 last year - is a co-production for the broadcaster between Tyrone Productions and Eo Teilifís, who have previously collaborated on the long-running TG4 soap ‘Ros Na Rún’ and the teen series ‘Seacht’. Hugh Farrelly (Ros Na Rún) will be the series producer with Patricia Carroll of Tyrone and Máire Ní Thuathail of Eo Teilifís executive producing.
The series’ six writers are Paul Walker (Stardust, Fair City); Lauren Mackenzie (Pure Mule, The Clinic); Len Collin (The Bill, Eastenders); Ted Gannon (Ballykissangel, Fair City); Christian O’Reilly (Inside I’m Dancing, On Home Ground) and Ailbhe Nic Giolla Bhríghde (Ros Na Rún).
No decisions on directors, key crew or cast have yet been made with Tyrone and Eo Teilifís currently holding casting auditions for a number of roles. It is expected a number of these roles will be announced over the coming weeks. Post-production on the series will be carried out at Eo Teilifís’ studios in Spiddal.
The ‘Tailor's Hill’ project received €600,000 – 50% of its funding – in the last round of BAI funding last month.
