Shorts News: Robinson Takes ‘Test’, Lough Wraps ‘Boogeyman’
17 Jun 2010 :
The Boogeyman
Cameras recently stopped rolling on the set of Gerard Lough's latest horror short, ‘The Boogeyman’; Eoin Rogers and Oscar nominee Ruairi Robinson are currently preparing to shoot ‘This is a Test’ which is to star ‘Prince of Persia’ actor Toby Kebbell and 'Wheels of Death' is lauded with Killer Shorts Award.

This is a Test

‘This is a Test’, a short film co-penned by award winner Eoin Rogers (Red Flag) and Oscar-nominated director Ruairí Robinson (Fifty Percent Grey) will begin filming in August of this year in Dublin. The short, which is being financed by the IFB Signatures Award, will star UK actor Toby Kebbell (Prince of Persia, Wilderness) and will be directed by Ruairí Robinson.

Writer Eoin Rogers’ feature script for 'Red Flag' recently won first prize in the Story Pros Screenplay Competition in the action/adventure/thriller category. The Story Pros prize means $2500 in cash and prizes with various services provided by Story Pros representing the script in LA.

‘The Boogeyman’

Filming recently wrapped on the set of ‘The Boogeyman’, a short film interpretation of the Stephen King novel of the same name – a first in Irish film-making. Directed by Gerard Lough (The Scanner) and produced by Gerard and Martin Neely (actor, Shakespeare in Love), the short stars Simon Fogarty (Portrait of a Zombie) and Michael Parle (Our Wonderful Home).

Centring around a man talking about the mysterious murders of his children with a psychologist ‘The Boogeyman’ was shot in Wexford and Donegal and runs for 30 minutes. A ninety second trailer will go online in HD on July 12th. The first screening of the film to an audience is expected to be in an Underground Cinema in Dublin on July 30th followed by other film festivals.

‘Wheels of Death'

First Quarter Films award-winning short horror 'Wheels of Death' was the recipient of the Killer Shorts Sudden Death Competition at Monster Mania Con in New Jersey last summer and Rob Kennedy's latest short shocker, 'In the Night, in the Dark' premiering at the Galway Film Fleadh in July. The team recently also finished production on the supernatural short, 'Taxi at Midnight.'
