Byrne, recently seen on RTÉ’s ‘Anonymous’, co-wrote the short with John Henderson, which tells the story of a bunch of rural Irish folk who try to trick a bus full of rich American tourists out of their money so they can buy a new church, but not everything goes according to plan.
Directed by Ewan Taylor, ‘Paddy Muck’ was filmed on location near Swords, Dublin in July 2007. This is the first short film penned by Byrne, who stars in the lead role as Paddy Muck.
The film also features a string of Irish comedians including Colum McDonnell, Dermot McMorrow (who also appeared alongside Byrne in Emily's Song), John Henderson, Bernard O'Shea, Eamon Bishop, Willy White (Des Bishop's - Joy in the Hood), Andrew Stanley (I Dare Ya), Joan Butler and Eric Lalor.
’Paddy Muck’ is produced by British company Brown Eyed Boy, in association with Pale Stone Productions (Emily's Song). DOP on the shoot was Lisa Thomson (Skeleton Crew), with editing by Andy Kemp at Brown Eyed Boy.
‘Paddy Muck’ will act as pilot for a TV show currently being written by Henderson and Byrne.
