Four –part doco series ‘Tidiest of Towns’ kicks off on RTE One on Sunday 25th November at 7.30pm. The programme follows the blood, sweat, tears and bin bags that eight Tidy Town committees go through in the hope of winning the prestigious competition.

The series, directed by Claire Dix and produced by Doireann O’Hara, takes a look behind the flower boxes and litter pickers to see the obsession, hard work, passion, and indeed marital disputes that occur in the race to prepare for the arrival of the Tidy Town judges.

Filmed around Ireland in the summer of ‘07, the communities featured are Westport, Aughrim, Sherkin Island, Ballymun, Foulksmills, Newbridge, Longford and Donegal. The series is narrated by Setanta Television’s Daire O’Brien.

‘Tidiest of Towns’ reveals the pride for their area that the comp, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, brings out in people and how far they’ll go to take home the much coveted prize; the gardening gloves are off -these towns are in it to win!

‘Tidiest of Towns’ was shot on Digi Beta and DV by Joe Edwards, Gerry Mac Arthur, Chris O’Brien and Stuart Teehan and is a Screentime Shinawil production in association with Supervalu for RTE. Executive produced by Lynda McQuaid and Larry Bass, with post production by Piranha Bar.

Music and audio post production was completed at Dublin based Waveform Studios.

‘Tidiest of Towns’ airs on Sunday 25th November at 7.30pm on RTE One.
