Award winning writer/director Gerry Stembridge (About Adam, Nora) readying his latest feature film ‘Alarm’ for November. The psychological thriller, set in Dublin’s commuter belt, will star IFTA winning actress Ruth Bradley (Stardust).
‘Alarm’ is a Venus Film and Television Production, written by Stembridge and produced by Anne Devlin and Marina Hughes. The project has been long in development at Venus but has gathered significant momentum of late with support coming through from The Irish Film Board, the Broacasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) and RTE.
The story follows a young woman who moves from the city to a housing estate outside Dublin where her idyllic suburban life quickly begins to unravel. IFTA winning actress Ruth Bradley (Stardust, The Clinic) has won the lead role in the film with other main and supporting cast yet to be confirmed.
Described as a low budget pic, the five week shoot is scheduled to begin on locations in Dublin and Wicklow in early November. Shooting on Super 16 format, Stembridge reunites with crew from his 2000 hit feature ‘About Adam’ as cinematographer Bruno de Keyzer, production designer Fiona Daly and costume designer Eimer Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh join the production.
Stembridge's 'About Adam' launched the career of US actress Kate Hudson and featured Howth native Stuart Townsend. That film also starred Charlotte Bradley, mother of Ruth who stars in 'Alarm'.
