Jacques Witta, Kieslowski's editor on three of his films, is giving a masterclass in Galway during the Visions festival on 1 February 2003 in assoication with Aisling Productions.
The masterclass to be held in Galway, is aimed at editors and assistant editors. It will consist of an analysis of the editing of a feature film focusing on the disparity/refinement between the rough cut and the finished film. The film under analysis will be Krzyzstof Kieslowski's masterpiece, Three Colours Red.
Jacques Witta has edited more than 50 feature films in the last 40 years. His collaboration with Krzysztof Kieslowski started on The Double Life of Veronique, and continued on Three Colours Blue and Three Colours Red. His filmography also includes Captains of April, Les Enfants du Marais, La Guerre dans le Haut Pays, Don Juan, Messieurs les Enfants, Cinco Dias Cinco Noites, and Élisa. Jacques Witta won the French Academy of Cinema Best Editing Award in 1983 for One Deadly Summer.
