Irish comedian Jason Byrne has signed up to star in the 30minute comic drama, ‘Emily’s Song’, that is scheduled to being shooting in Ireland next month.
Writer/Directors Frank Kelly and Thomas A. Kennedy are independently producing the €15,000 film through their production company

Kelly and Kennedy (who also lectures in the IADT, Dun Laoghaire), have been working together for four years but this will be their film debut.
Speaking to IFTN Frank Kelly said they approached Byrne after one of his gigs, “he liked it and he said yes, that simple,” says Kelly. “He's been great, stuck with us for a year while we were trying to get it made and it helped that a friend of mine, a well respected comedy promoter in Ireland, Kieran O'Sullivan, has since become a co-producer on the film.”
Actors Shane Murray-Corcoran (last seen playing Young Arthur in ‘King Arthur’) and Eric O’Brien will also feature in the film.
Shooting on Super16 with Ivan McColough (The Halo Effect, The Carpenter and His Clumsy Wife) on board as Director of Photography, the two week shoot is scheduled to begin on the 20th of June on various locations in the Louth area.
Post production will take place in Tumbleweed Studios in Dundalk with Daibhi Doran (Keepers of The Crown) editing and Tadhg Murphy of The National Youth Orchestra scoring the film.
